In this passage from Kathy Reichs book, a number of different forensic science disciplines are used to reach a conclusion.

Anthropology and Pathology

The bodies were exhumed and then examined by an anthropologist (the heroine Tempe Brennan), they were also examined by a pathologist in an earlier chapter.

Entomology

Tempe then sent samples of maggots, pupa casings and flies to an entomologist, Lou.

Analytical Chemistry

These samples after examination by Lou are submitted to an analytical chemist  for analysis of the insects for drugs of abuse and their metabolites.

Toxicology

Finally the results would be interpreted by a toxicologist.
